A bevy of swans

I officially have a bevy of swans ( the word bevy means flock I gather) I have the large one the identical one only smaller and then this latest one made for Macy's in 1970's by same Italian company with the neck down so 3 by same maker and several other varied swan tureens. These three Italian ones I keep in dining room year round. I dress the big one up with bows and holiday neck wear. I adore swans and just treasure these tureens.
I use them really only for display.
I wish I could have a real swan to tame and feed. Pink Boy does not go along with that thinking. So for now I enjoy my ceramic swans. I think I have enough now.

Peonies for later

Well, peony time is over-- it lasts about a month here in Marietta. Just like putting away the Pinkmas tree I am always a bit sad about the end of peony blooms.
I dry the ones that are pink and then store them in an airtight box and use them at holiday time for my little table top dried flower tree. I freshen it up every year. I also use some of them on packages or little gift arrangements. I think they look pretty drying in my Laduree green kitchen.
It helps me prolong my peony time.

Marietta Square Farmer's Market flowers

The Marietta Square Farmer's Market is back on every Saturday morning. I think it starts at 8 a.m. and goes till 12:00 noon. My favorite stall is the flower lady I try and get there any Saturday that I am not away. She has most wonderful fresh flowers that she grows herself and you can make your own arrangement for $10.00! I pretend that I am at a street market in Paris!

I love my arrangement this week but forget what she said the pink flowers were. Does anyone know? Leave me a comment if you do. Merci

Cat cookie jars... ahmmm

It started when a friend found the cat cookie jar right above the black and white cat. It is a vintage McCoy cookie jar. I loved it too so I went on Etsy and found two like it one for me and another for my friend. So all 3 of us have same cookie jar. Then of course I had to peruse the other vintage cookie jars and buy a few and now it seems I have a cat cookie jar collection ha Then today I received another cookie jar first one with mama cat and kittens as a gift so we are officially crazy cat cookie jar lady. I use "we" as the royals do meaning me. Ha see the craziness is seeping in already.

Haviland limoges china

I have always love the softness of old French haviland limoges china. Especially love the gold edged patterns and patterns with swags of roses.  I found these beauties on Ebay and the silver bon bon server circa 1890 at Scotts Antiques here in Atlanta area.
I think peonies go with so many china patterns and especially with the vintage china and mismatched sets I love. Living a pink life is so much fun especially when dining off pink vintage china!

New tea salon in Paris

Look how pretty it all is and neat I would love to work in a space like that.

Oh how I wish I were headed to Paris! I can really say that anytime but really really wish it were true now that new Nina's tea salon opened on rue Danielle Casanova sometime this last year. I am sure it was not there when I was in Paris last year. I adore the shop all white which I love, and the bust of dear Marie Antoinette, the bows and the pink!!
A must stop next trip. You can order the Marie Antoinette tea on Amazon as I have done quite often in the last year or so. It is yummy and that pink tin with my monogram on it makes it so special.
I hear they have opened one in Miami so if you are headed that way please check it out and let me know.

Marie Antoinette's wedding day

May 16, 1770 is the ceremonial wedding day of Marie Antoinette and  Louis XVI!
The 2nd to last photo is the actual wedding contract.
They wed at Versailles, bien sur, and it must have been something to see. I loved the wedding scene in the Marie Antoinette movie of 2006 the images above are from that Sophia Coppola movie.

Tea accouterments

Tea veilleuses were popular from 1700-1890's . The top comes off and a tea pot can be placed there and a candle kept the tea warm They were also sometimes used as nightlights.
I found this beauty on Ebay. She reminds me of Marie Antoinette and has a fan in her hand( I collect folding fans) a doggie and a pink rose a la Marie Antoinette--her favorite flower.
If you want to see a wonderful and varied collection you can visit the Teapot Museum in Trenton TN. see link : http://www.teapotcollection.com/teapot/home

A Paris Apartment novel

Bonjour blog friends My computer is working again! I just want to do a quick post to tell you about this lovely book I just finished reading. It is based loosely on the apartment that was discovered in Paris a few years ago .The apartment had been left as it was for over 40 years and that is where the story picks up following the process of getting all the fabulous items ready for auction. A bit of a love story, a bit of auction house inside peek. First novel for Michelle Gable.
